Two express carriers serve Seminole. In addition, eight motor freight companies work on an as-needed basis. With major highways in almost every direction, connections to anywhere in the country are easily scheduled. Progress continues on U.S. Highway 377/99 four-lane project from Stroud to Ada, adding yet another express or alternate shipping route.
Airport
Jimmie Austin Seminole Municipal Airport is an outstanding facility. Seminole is very proud of the level of air service it provides. A 5000 ft. runway to accommodate private and small commercial aircraft and ample storage for private planes in one of 34 hangars provided. Will Rogers World Airport, closest commercial airport, is only 50 miles away in Oklahoma City. A massive renovation and expansion project has just been completed to better accommodate 7 major commercial airlines and 17 airfreight companies.
Water
Seminole is within 100 miles of the Port of Catoosa located on the Arkansas River at Muskogee. The port has a channel depth of nine feet and allows access to the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico.
Rail
With the increase in demand for goods Seminole leadership has placed as a high priority the restoration of rail service to the area. Plans to reactivate a line connecting east-west and north-south arteries are being completed and should soon be operational. The AOK short line plans to lease the stretch of line between McAlester, through Seminole and on to Shawnee adding another means to transport goods.
